Christina Hendricks, whose given name was Christina Elise McCarthy, was born on May 13, 1975 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She began her acting career in 1999, and got her big break a year later by landing a role on the Showtime's "Beggars and Choosers", a short-lived behind-the-scenes look at network television. Before that, she made four appearances on the MTV show "Undressed", in which, alas, she remained fully dressed.

A short run as recurring character Joyce Westlake on TV's "ER" followed in 2002, but it wasn't until 2007 that Christina landed her break-out role as the sexy Joan Holloway on AMC's signature series "Mad Men". Hendricks plays the office manager of advertising agency Sterling Cooper. The early 1960's setting gives her plenty of opportunity to strut around in low-cut dresses that show her amazing figure to its best advantage.

Joan Holloway runs the secretarial pool at Sterling Cooper, and once had an affair with boss Roger Sterling which ended after he suffered a heart attack. She is naturally the object of her male co-workers lusts and, representative of the mores of the time, they subject her to endless harassment. After marrying local doctor Greg Harris, she now fears becoming a bored, lonely housewife, and longs for more responsibility at the ad agency.

Christina Hendricks is one of those all-too-rare actresses who look like a real woman, yet still manages to be incredibly hot. Her natural curves and "real" woman's body allow her to be sexy without arousing the resentment of her fellow women. They love that a woman who doesn't look like a Barbie doll can be a sex symbol in the age of rampant plastic surgery.
